About Sensei Siemong Wang
Head instructor Siemong Wang created a curriculum of the Shinko-ryū
Japanese Karate style and introduced it to the United States while working
full time, learning English and attending Marywood University. A former
national champion of Laos in Karate Sparring and Karate Kata, Siemong
had fled Laos under difficult circumstances in his youth, making an
ardous journey from the troubled region to America over the course of
many years. In his impermanent stays in several countries during that
time, Karate was his constant. Confronted with challenges during those
formative years Siemong also experienced kindness in equal measure from
family, friends and strangers. Karate became an outlet for Siemong to
express his artistry, his gratitude to all who have helped him, and
his tribute to his own teachers.
These experiences continue to shape him today, and he imparts to his
students the importance of hard work, generosity, respect, humility,
and appreciating those around us. The Shinko-ryū Karate is an embodiment
of the principles, spiritual enrichment and the physical discipline
that Siemong wishes to instill in all his students. A small number of
exceptional students have since become leading senseis in their own
right. They have helped to expand and continue Shinko-ryū Karate-Do
teachings. Siemong is a named Shinko-ryū Karate Master from the Japan
Shinko-ryū Karate organization. In 2010 he was a recipient of the UCLI
Barack Leadership Award from the United Cultures Leadership Institute
(UCLI) of Lackawanna College, Pennsylvania. Siemong lives in Pennsylvania
and teaches at all six locations.
